Glogster

Click here to visit my Glog

Assignment Title: Glogster

Uses in the Classroom: A glog can be beneficial to both students and teachers in the classroom. It's useful to combine a variety of different links or videos that can assist students in their learning. Students should have a fairly easy time navigating the site due to it being very comparable to other types of programs they have used. Another benefit of using Glogster is that teachers and students can use multiple technology sources to create an assignment or lesson.

Issues to Consider: One significant issue that needs to be considered is proper copyright. Using the glog allows users to add videos, links, and images so proper citation will be needed. Having access to flash is also needed to create a glog. While creating my glog I did find it a bit frustrating to have to test out all the different options to use to find the right one.

Copyright: All sources are cited directly on the Glog or on the links provided.

Mind Mapping with Gliffy

Assignment Name: Gliffy

Uses in the classroom: There are a variety of different ways students and teachers can use Gliffy in the classroom. Gliffy can be used to create different types of charts that can be saved, edited, printed, and shared. This student can assist students in demonstrating their understanding of the curriculum and allows for them to understand the many uses of the different kinds of charts that can be accessed. Teachers can also use this website to help create visual elements for students. Gliffy allows for students and teachers to quickly and easily drag and drop the elements needed to create a mind map.
Another way Gliffy can be beneficial is that it can help organize students thoughts when preparing to write. Students can quickly sort their thoughts into a mind map and then take their ideas and compose them on paper.

Issues to Consider: Depending on the age level of students using Gliffy I feel that older students would have a much easier time navigating through the website. Younger students are going to need more guidance to create a mind map. Students and teachers also will need access to the internet as well as the proper technology to complete a Gliffy. Each student would also have to have an email address in order to sign up to use Gliffy.
